Motorcycle Insurance in Florida
First Florida Underwriters has had the pleasure of providing insurance to the residents of Orange Park FL and the surrounding area since 1992. In addition to home, auto, and commercial insurance, we also provide motorcycle insurance coverage.
The state of Florida has very specific regulations regarding motorcycle licensing, registration, and insurance. In some other states, car insurance and motorcycle insurance are similar. This is not the case in Florida. It can be confusing for consumers to fully understand and stay up-to-date.
Motorcycle operators must be properly licensed through the FLDHMS, either in the form of a motorcycle endorsement on their driver's license or a "motorcycle only" license. While it is not required for all motorcyclists to be insured in order to register their motorcycle, it is required that they obtain the minimum requirement of insurance:
- $10,000 for one person in bodily injury liability.
- $20,000 for two or more people in bodily injury liability.
- $10,000 per crash in property damage liability.
- $30,000 in combined single limits.
Riders are not mandatory to wear a helmet, providing they are over 21 years of age and carry a minimum of $10,000 in medical insurance. However, unless your vehicle has a windshield, riders must wear eye protection at all times. As with other safety rules, failure to comply will result in penalties.
